Pursuing KATANA’s Unique Charm: KATANA Custom
WestPower's KATANA
This Suzuki KATANA is a full custom by WestPower. WestPower is a store based in Osaka, Japan, and they specialize in modern Suzuki models. It is strong in the All Japan Road Racing Championship and also develops their original parts based on certain technologies.
The concept of this custom is to bring out the appeal of the new generation KATANA and to allow the rider to fully enjoy sport riding on winding roads and tracks. The kit includes a titanium slip-on exhaust and rearsets, a windshield shaped like that of an air-cooled Katana, carbon fenders, a rear fender eliminator kit, and a Gears rear shock. The Clip-on handlebar makes it easy for riders to concentrate on sport riding. With a low grip position, the rider can tilt his upper body forward, making him easier to enjoy a sense of oneness with the machine. However, KATANA's structure does not allow for the installation of an standard clip-on handle, so the top bridge and tank cover are specially designed to allow bolt-on installation and ensure a handlebar turning angle equivalent to stock.
Handle
The clip-on handlebar, which lower the grip position to make the handlebar area more compact, have an adjustable hanging angle of 0 to 5 degrees. The top bridge is reminiscent of MotoGP racers.
Bodyworks
FRP tank cover to avoid interference when installing a clip-on handlebar. A manufacturer's logo sticker, which is smaller than the stock, is included. WestPower has also developed an aluminum tank that is compatible with the clip-on handlebar and increases the capacity from 12L to 17.5L. The tank weighs 3.25 kg (excluding fuel cap and fuel pump).
Compared to the compact look of the standard windshield, the overall height of the windshield has been increased significantly. Windproofing has also been improved.
Fender eliminator kit allows blinkers near the license plate, and there are three front and rear positions can be selected.
With the removal of the swingarm-mounted rear fender, the flat-weave carbon rear fender was extended by 50mm in overall length.
Intake & Exhaust
Titanium KATANA slip-on exhaust with slash-cut exhaust port along the swingarm.
Chassis
The Gears rear shock is fully adjustable, with the reservoir tank integrated into the back of the body, which is Aluminum 7075 machined.
The Brembo racing caliper is always an option for the Westpower's KATANA. The front fender is made of plain weave carbon and is shorter in length than stock, and the 3.50-17/6.00-17 size wheels and Φ41mm upside down forks are stock.
The swingarm is stock, and a stand hook was added to the end of the swingarm, which is useful for maintenance. The rear brake system is also remained to be stock. The rear tufftriding steel sprocket is made by XAM. The OEM tires Dunlop Road Sport 2 are retained.
